Pros

They trusted my skills and experiences outside of my age and Psychology major. They hired me based on conversations and demonstrated work, not just paper facts. My base salary is currently $9,999 per month at 21 years old; I got an 8% raise beginning of the year. I also get "incentive pay" (commission) totaling $20-45k annually on top of that as well as a 401k (no matching), retirement account, dental, vision, and healthcare benefits at very reasonable prices. My first project was with the Fortune 1 company. I now manage the design aspects for 4 high-profile client accounts a year into my job. I am well supported and not overwhelmed. My manager is EXCELLENT and always preaches and acts on family and health coming first over work. I almost never work overtime. Never weekends or after 5pm on a Friday. It's an incredible job fresh out of college and I am very lucky.

Cons

I wish the Band promotion process was easier. They recently automated it so it only recommends you for a Designer promotion if you're performing at 132% of quota I believe, eliminating the previous skills test. That was a bad move, pretty much guaranteeing no Designers get promoted. Also it's hard being gender non-conforming. We need better LGBT community support, resources, and gender-neutral BATHROOMS.

Pros

Really great experiences from day one, IBM provides a LOT of opportunities for personal and professional growth. With really supportive people all around you to help you develop and grow, learning and personal development is emphasised in the company and there are aspects that make it feel more like a startup than a large and established corporation - which is fantastic as you feel positive about the company's development and future outlook. Everyone wants to see you succeed and that's an awesome community and culture to be a part of, regardless of background or previous experiences. The learning platforms and educational opportunities provided by IBM are also world-class, everything from short courses to certifications that will support your long-term career trajectory. Overall, it's been an incredible experience from day one.

Cons

Lots of opportunities for learning and growth can make it daunting at times to know what to aim for - good thing is managers and other senior IBMers are more than happy to help you find clarity regarding learning and career development.
