Pros

Pay is decent, benefits are good, management is cool if you are their friend outside of work.

Cons

You are treated like a slave. I went four years without receiving a raise because "store minimum increased" making me a senior co worker making the same amount of money as 16 year old cashiers just starting out. Just like I said in the pros, if you aren't managements friend you are treated like dirt. You are expected to do the work of five people. If you don't have sick time and you have a severe illness you are penalized for not coming into work. For instance I got into a car accident, I was given a write up for not coming into work and going to the hospital. The company is severely anti union. If you are publicly pro union, or friends of people who are publicly pro union you are an enemy to management. They unrightfully terminate people almost bi weekly. I saw it and escaped while I still could. The company is honestly taking a turn for the worst. Do yourself a favor, save your sanity, DON'T WORK THERE.

Pros

Health insurance; 401k; paid time off

Cons

This is the only place that I've ever worked that didn't reward for outstanding achievement. Hence, between the low pay and clueless management, many worker bees give a minimum effort.

Pros

Decent pay for retail. Good benefits. Employee discount. Easy enough to make it into a career if you're down to bend over backwards and smile while doing it. Some (like, 2) co-workers become real-life friends. Might be eye-opening for anyone who is a blatant jerk when they're shopping.

Cons

You will sweat, bleed and cry. Although decent, the pay isn't exactly worth the mental stress and physical toll it will take on you as a human being. Rules and expectations may change with no notice whatsoever, or, depending on who's working management-wise. It feels like a cult, but you put up with it because how else will you live paycheck to paycheck? You go home too exhausted to look for another job, but that's all you think about... You will then descend into a mental pit of insanity, depression and anxiety all rolled into one... But by all means, if you enjoy koolaid, have at it.
