Pros

They have good benefits for full time employees

Cons

Their is no family here!! They sure don't practice what they preach!! Every promotion has to do with who likes you. Not your qualifications!! They brag about how multi-cultural they are..where are these people on their management team!! Look around next time you are there!!

Pros

At the time, a college reimbursement program (not anymore) Great discounts from display model furniture and returned furniture Work with a diverse group of people (people from all walks of life, IKEA promotes diversity) Loose management and structure (pro or con?) if you're good at your job you get special treatment, no late write ups, flexible schedules (weekends off in retail is normally unheard of) From what I heard, great benefits for people with families and kids. Was one of the top places for working mothers, not sure about recently

Cons

USED to have a great college reimbursement program that paid around $2500 Loose management and structure (pro or con?) if you're good at your job you get special treatment - because they want to keep you there. My experience with management was that once they found out that you didn't want to have a career there for life, they would treat you as a seasonal employee. There are lifers here and they get offended if you don't embrace the culture to their standards.

Pros

One is given high reponsibilities since the first job,( I started as manager right after business school) flexibility to organize your working time, and that' it... Vey protitable and fresh money available all year run. Great marketing power

Cons

Quite sect environment. If you are not in the move, you are immediatly put aside by top management. Impossible to propose other ways of improving, unless you spend years negociating with top management, like it would be in a public company ruled by unions. ( over 85% of swedish working population subscribes unions) ; Amazingly unorganized at HQ in Sweden, working few hours a day, long coffe breaks, endless meetings
