Pros

Good firm for entry level software engineers. Good for Project Managers only if you can play politics and avoid taking responsibilities.

Cons

No work-personal life balance. Most of the onsite employees have to work extra hours to co-ordinate with offshore teams, taking a toll on personal life. If you are a project manager, it will be tough, not because of your abilities, but because of the business model. Most of the employees leave when they become Programmer Analyst, leaving only entry level software engineers to work with. Which means that either the Project Managers or some PA do most of the work at the expense of the entire team which is not trained anyways. Their business model is based "head count" and not quality of the employees. Remember one of the senior managers saying ... We want to become the Walmart in services and do not need many smart people around. Avg people are what we are looking for.

Pros

1) Training for freshers is truly good and provides one with a very good exposure to face the industry and excel in it. 2) Some of the projects provide more opportunities in terms of technology, exposure to clients, onsite opportunities. 3) The physical environment (gardens, gyms, facilities etc.) is awesome. They have one of the best-maintained campuses. 4) There would be a lot of cultural diversity since people from all parts of India, world work together. 5) Health care policy covers spouse, children and dependant parents. They have tie-up with good hospitals in all major cities/towns

Cons

1) Work culture highly dependent on the Business Unit (BU), Project that one works in. It can range from truly delightful to downright awful. 2) One has to be lucky to get into a good project because projects are assigned on random basis more often than not. 3) Since the company is listed in the stock markets, managers tend to work towards a set financial target. Hence, the employee aspirations might be compromised. E.g. it will be very difficult to get leave when they are struggling to meet the target 4) Opportunities highly specific to BU. For e.g some BUs have a lot of onsite opportunities while others have almost nil. 5) Work diversity i.e. getting to work on different domains, technologies might not be that easy. Once an employee has worked on a certain thing, managers hesitate to put them on other fields 6) One can say, the stockholders come first and then the employees. 7) Salary package not very good. An optimist can refer to it as decent. Pay is certainly less than one expects. 8) Appraisal process has some flaws because of large number of employees. Someone who might/might not know you, based on your Project Manager’s recommendation decides the salary hike. Luck comes into play here

Pros

1. Very strong value system that is closely governed by senior management 2. Good work culture 3. Well defined internal processes; bureaucracy is non-existent 4. Some policies are upfront, well defined and transparent to employees (caution: not all)

Cons

1. It's growing at a very fast rate; so big that it is getting unmanageable 2. Career planning and the companies support to meet ones goal is almost non-existent 3. Most people end up working on a technology or business area that a person is not interested to work in. This goes back to #2, unaligned to career path/meeting goals. 4. The bi-annual appraisal system is a facade - its an extremely time consuming exercise whose benefit is rarely realized.
