Pros

amazing people - smartest, hardest working and FUN; amazing impact for a relatively small org ($40m annual revenue)

Cons

Painful business model - dependent on lots of tiny grants and operationally dependent on implementers - means IPA has very little space to operate indpependently or take advantage of economies of scale. So hard to fix longstanding operational issues in HR, grants, etc

Pros

You’re trusted to manage your own time, free from micromanagement, while working on projects that are technically stimulating

Cons

Growth opportunities are limited, with most leadership positions concentrated among Global North staff, while Country Office staff have fewer chances for advancement.
