Pros

The great connected team from around the world supports the team. There is tremendous information to share and discover from all the offices worldwide. The local team is generally young and energetic, complemented with personnel with great experience.

Cons

In terms of local context, the local team is very limited by the control and decision of the regional teams, which causes a huge amount of problems in terms of the long time to make decisions and the clarity of who makes the decisions. Also, from the aspect of a system of support, the organization is developing and implementing its internal system. to be fair, it is a complicated matter but ends up affecting the day-to-day work, and the knowledge of the system is concentrated in the HQ office. The problem is that nobody usually has the answer to the issues. Local processes are not 100% fixed, and the continual change in local teams makes advancing difficult. Also, the benefits are insignificant compared to other NGOs in the country.

Pros

Very professional and credible. Extremely qualified technical and research staff. Dynamic and always ready to question everything we are doing, never a dull moment. Ambitious leadership. Good pay.

Cons

Top-down decision-making, powerful CEO which dictates all priorities. Started as a humanitarian organisation, it is now aggressively positioning itself for development grants and contracts, obsession with scale and influence. Too many people in senior positions in HQ with fat salaries. Cut-throat approach with middle-management staff, no career progression plans, at will contracts.
