Pros

Involvement with clients from all walks of life and culture makes the work environment both dynamic and challenging. Great place to develop interpersonal and communication skills.

Cons

Sometimes the training is not enough in dealing with different cultures and people that come from troubled past. But office environment is convenient in assisting interns with clients.

Pros

Some of the best things of working for the IRC is the friendly coworker atmosphere as well as the chance to contribute significantly to the overall mission. It's great being able to help the refugee and asylee clients and know that you're making a difference in people's lives.

Cons

It's a non-profit, so people are always working incredibly hard just to say on top the work. It's worthwhile, but can be a bit exhausting sometimes.
