Pros

Incredibly dedicated colleagues with passion to support refugees

Cons

Numerous. Management is so out of touch of what the daily needs of clients are and provide no support. Under-resourced staff are charged with finding solutions to systems or issues they are vastly underpaid to solve. The pay is horrible, there is no safe place to raise concerns and management retaliate against anyone who raises concerns. Extremely toxic work environment and constant harm is being done to clients because of how poorly run the organization is. If I could give zero stars I would.

Leadership is out of touch, leading to clients harmed

Pros

The team and coworker support

Cons

The burnout experienced by almost every person I worked with, and myself, led to clients and staff being harmed. There is no acknowledgment of the huge personal struggles that staff go through due to their work In this organization. When leadership does not like the feedback they are getting, they simply remove those voices from being invited to important meetings. Most often, this includes field staff so the only people making decisions are those who don’t work with clients directly. The IRCs goals to be the biggest and best in resettlement means clients aren’t receiving good services because staff are so burnt out due to their huge caseloads paired with poor compensation. Leadership knows this and does nothing, caseworkers are expendable.
