Great organizational mission--Workplace culture needs an overhaul in domestic programs
Pros
Great place to work if you really care about helping people to get started and grow as new arrivals to the U.S. At many points, it felt like family and lifelong friendships emerged. Great benefits if taken advantage (e.g. health insurance, family leave, access to counseling and wellness programs, pension).
Cons
High turnover. Overworked with little pay or appreciation. The site I was employed could have done a better job at handling the changes during the bleak downturn in arrivals as well as treating long-term employees more respectfully upon leave. Was not asked to do an employee exit interview, which is a shame and a missed opportunity for valuable feedback on improvement. Leaving the organization felt like the talent and efforts of many years placed into the community as an employee weren't appreciated and grossly undervalued. Hope that has/has been improved with the changing and recent tides.
