Pros

Some of the greatest people you will meet in the field, all committed to humanitarianism, and working hard to help achieve a better life for those in need. The IRC also has an excellent reputation amongst the humanitarian community, so can be a good stepping stone to other organizations.

Cons

While there are departmental strategies, there is a lack of an organizational strategy, which limits the ability of the IRC to be stronger than merely a sum of its parts.

Pros

Good entryway into the nonprofit community. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Very small but community driven. Diverse experiences w/ refugees from many countries was amazing.

Cons

The office was tiny, disorganized and underpaid. It's clear why nonprofit isn't the best option for a monetarily satisfying career.
