Pros

You're able to contribute directly to the well-being of your clients. I had wonderful, supportive coworkers with similar values to my own, and when I had the energy to, I was allowed to pursue passion projects that aligned with my job.

Cons

You will constantly be overworked, you won't get paid a lot, and you will definitely have management breathing down your neck about meeting program expectations. Plus it can become emotionally draining if you invest too much of yourself into your work or world events. There is also not much upward mobility, although you can easily move between departments.

Management was nice but exhibited a lot of liberal workplace tendencies - e.g. "we're a family" to justify low salary, benefits, poor treatment, etc.
