Pros

Very professional and credible. Extremely qualified technical and research staff. Dynamic and always ready to question everything we are doing, never a dull moment. Ambitious leadership. Good pay.

Cons

Top-down decision-making, powerful CEO which dictates all priorities. Started as a humanitarian organisation, it is now aggressively positioning itself for development grants and contracts, obsession with scale and influence. Too many people in senior positions in HQ with fat salaries. Cut-throat approach with middle-management staff, no career progression plans, at will contracts.

Pros

it is a place you can learn a lot, but if you want to learn because no one is going to teach you.

Cons

No one help you to find solutions or teach at you on where to find the tools to do your job. even when it is an ngo, the SMT, directors and management overall doesn´t have any clue on how to deal with the staff, they exploiter every one to achieve the indicators and to satisfy the donor , present the programs as you can do a lot with less cost but that means the staff needs to do what ever they can. don´t let people to rest, dont follow basic structure as 1 to 1 meeting with supervisor the salary is under according to responsibilities of the job,

Pros

Personally absolutely love this org. I started as an intern years ago and moved on to full-time (both in NYC). I think MOST of the employees truly care about what they are doing. You will always find Karens so whatever. They make it suck but what can you do.

Cons

Field offices are incredibly overworked, understaffed, underpaid, and stressed.
