Pros

They offer exposure to various industries. There is a great deal of prestige associated with a Big Four firm. They have a very strong and very ethical leadership team in the local office. They offer competitive salaries, benefits and a wonderful career springboard into industry. The audit training provides good project management, supervisory and critical thinking skills.

Cons

They are relatively rigid and risk management focused - justified by their line of business. They tend to be reactive rather than proactive, relative to developing their lines of business. They tend to operate in a fairly black and white zone.

Pros

Excellent work life balance; good long term strategy; cool people.. salary so so.. top notch to work for

Cons

Lack of diversity (except females). Lack of diversity on HR.. where it should start from...... Non performing seniors on top.. lot of ass kissing required for promotion.. unfair salary for minorities- long term vision seems to be the best among the BIG 4

Pros

KPMG is a fun place to work coming out of school, there are many bright young professionals, which makes coming to work a pleasure. There is a steep learning curve, and the work is engaging and challenging. Because KPMG is a multinational firm there are opportunities to move to new positions and to new locations which makes the company a great place to work.

Cons

As with any of the big four accounting firms, the hours can be long, especially during a busy season. Also, as with any job, an important aspect of working there is timing. If you work in a group that has a large market share and many senior employees there is little room for advancement, whereas if you come into a group that is new to a market the opportunity for advancement is much greater.
