Pros

If your single or your partner is willing to travel or works for Kiewit then it's not that bad. Winter is a slow time unless you work an a hot area. From superintendent down most the guys are good people. Good luck if you work here or are planing on it.

Cons

Only chases major jobs at this time so working out of town is a most. If you know the right people then you might have a chance of working in town (In the click of area manger other words kiss ass). Almost always overbids jobs to get the most money out of it no matter how bad the job is. Starting to lay people off because it's cheaper to subcontract out work then have there own people do it because they charge so much for rent for there own equipment. If you work in their district offices hours are from 7-5 even if you are done with your work at three. You only here about the bad never the good. If your lucky you get to go home for your three days, but most the time your pressured to work your time off ( this is when you get to fly home to see your family, but within those three days to have to fly to an from home state and job site so you get a day off out of the two weeks you work). If you happen to work close to the district office good luck getting the weekends off cause getting the job done way ahead of time to make more money is more important then the time off. At there district meeting they shove work life balance down your throat then after that you go back to work cause thats all that really matters. The district meeting what a joke only reason to go is to go back home if you live in that town, other then that it no one whats to be there. If you are not a salary employee your worthless in their eyes. If your not a bigg shot forget about a good raise cause the money goes to there bigger house and not you trying to get the simple things in life. Alot of people are leaving this company because of the changes. Alot of guys trying to move up will do what ever it takes so always watch your back cause they will push you under the bus. I've got to know alot of the bigg shots and they have no respect for any one that really does the work. They just know if it made money for them or not.

Pros

If your new to construction you will learn a great deal about the industry, Its a good place to work if your young, single, and dont have any kids. Three or fours years here and you should be able to run your own construction company.

Cons

Your life and everything in it will belong to Kiewit. 60 hours weeks are the norm. So, If you complete your work and leave early, you'll feel guilty. Work life balance is bad. Worst I've seen. Oh and if your a minority you will need to work twice as hard as your equals to earn respect.
