Pros

- hybrid working arrangement - 2 days at office, 3 days working from home - somewhat flexible working hours (depends on team) - opportunity for development - pay is decent at the location - some projects can be interesting - lots of opportunity to take real ownership, make impact

Cons

- company hops on overhyped stuff all the time - long working hours, 9-18 base, with unpaid overtime expected in some roles - development opportunities often add to base workload, not a part of it - career advancement / promotions are impossible right now - if you stay at the company long term they will underpay you

WORST COMPANY

Pros

Hybrid working Company pays for pension fund and medical aid

Cons

My experience at MSCI Stellenbosch, after their acquisition of Burgiss, was honestly disappointing. The role was sold to me as an analyst position, but almost all the work ended up being data capturing. It felt misleading from the start. The management structure didn’t function well, and there was a constant blame culture that made it hard to grow or feel supported. Career progression basically didn’t exist. There were no development plans, no clear steps forward, and no real opportunities to move up. The team itself was mostly guys, and it genuinely felt like a boys club. On top of that, the environment carried a sense of exclusion and privilege that made the workplace uncomfortable and unwelcoming for anyone who didn’t naturally fit in. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this office if you’re looking for real analytical work, proper development, or a healthy, inclusive culture. BTW - everyone in this office captures data. That’s the real job you’re stepping into, no matter what title they give you. There’s a huge gap between what MSCI represents globally and what this branch delivers. There’s a lot of work needed to rebrand the company internally so it actually reflects MSCI’s standards, culture, and professionalism.

Pros

Great culture, a Lot of opportunities in tech. Has a diverse set of technologies. Lots of internal mobility options, which means you can literally spend the rest of your life here. A lot of events, if you are going to the office. Still offers complete roles (because of the shortage of office space)

Cons

You will have a bad experience if your manager is bad. Shortage of office space, in case you are going to work in the office.
