Pros

You will have an opportunity to meet people from all over the world, especially people from India and the Phillipines, as you train them to do your job.

Cons

MSCI uses all forms of trickery to extract as much work from employees as possible. The company will tell you one thing and then do another, all without offering a reasonable explanation.

Pros

-Immediate managers are very supportive -Lots of flexibility to work -Lots of opportunities to learn -A friendly global environment

Cons

-Increases happen once a year and tend to be below the industry average. Not only that but because promotions are so rare - your salary tends to stagnate (net decrease even due to inflation and higher taxes) even though your workload increases. -Only real way to grow is to move between teams or move to a new company and go back to MSCI. -Local office is full of internal politics because only a select few executives makes decisions for the entire region. Due to this, there's alot of "looking good" done for higher ups (hiding problems etc). -Will tend to hire outsider instead of considering internal promotions. -Reimbursement process is terrible. -Supports work-from-home schemes but does not pay for electricity nor compensates employees in any reasonable way. Local office heads discourage such discussion hence the problem persists.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we appreciate your feedback and take it into consideration to keep improving. MSCI is determined to offer a salary to each employee that’s on par with the market – for this reason we take part in benchmarking studies from relevant industries and firms to make sure we are rewarding our people in an appropriate and realistic way. When MSCI has an open role to fill, we always look first at the talented people we already have within the firm. We aim to move people into new roles that are the right fit for their skills, experiences and ambitions while also supporting the firm’s goals, and we want to make sure that every open position gets filled by the candidate (internal or external) who fits the role the most.

Pros

Immense resources available to improve technical skills. Management tries to provide perks such as "fun days" and cultural celebrations.

Cons

Blind leading the blind. Management's goal is turn everyone into a sales person - thus, there is not much breadth with work but significant depth with MSCI data and products. Leadership style of upper management is to instill fear with use of threats and intimidation. You always feel on edge.

We are sorry to read your comments. Companies like Glassdoor are an important source of improvement data and we take the opinions of current and past employees very seriously. Our strategy is to create a OneMSCI culture – both internally but also for our clients. There are opportunities to be a subject matter expert with depth in our products, as well as opportunities to have a broader understanding for our client facing sales people. The success of the organization, our clients and our shareholders – and the success of our people – depends on having both. Regarding your comments around Leadership style, all our managers and leaders are provided feedback directly during the annual Engagement Survey results period – as well as on an ongoing basis, and we are always keen to support both managers and employees through any challenges as raised. We are proud of the fact that we have people who are smart, creative, have high integrity and collegiate in nature and we do not support the methodology or style you mention. Please do contact your local HR Generalist to discuss your concerns.
