Pick your tribe carefully

Pros

Professional team, excellent research, learning opportunities - Excellent and highly professional research teams make a work experience at the company a possibility for career progression. The company offers a good degree of integrity and learning opportunities within inconsistent and inefficient internal processes.

Cons

Command-and-control culture, average remuneration, lack of innovation culture. Top management is disconnected from client experience. No innovative thinking or visionary talent finds true fertile ground in MSCI’s old school command-and-control culture. A corporate culture based on value capture and blind growth engenders a top down management style that instigates fear, feeds on self effacing arrogance and expects lower rank staff to ‘be in line’, no actual contributors. In turn, this creates siloes and limits cooperation. Management is attempting to change this culture but lacks the self reflection and vision that can enable the required changes in leadership type and style. Pick your tribe carefully, time waits for no one.
