Toxic work environment, avoid if possible.
The management team have to put up a front every year, to make it seem like they care about their staff, conveniently a few weeks before employers 'anonymous' surveys. Some (very few and far between) managers would probably care about their team if they weren't struggling with the workload. As you can tell, some managers are being burden with too much, while others aren't.
The majority of the managers are very talented in making themselves look busy, while delegating all their managerial tasks to their employers, instead of doing their own work themselves.
If you are not a "yes man" to anything and everything (costing you your mental health and general wellbeing), you can kiss your chances goodbye of being taken seriously or promoting.
Avoid working in Front Office. It's a department that is open 24 hours and the stress of dealing with angry guests, because houskeeping is too behind to have the rooms clean and ready in time, while the posibillity of someone calling in sick from your own team, or having to work with people that weren't fully trained on the many systems you have to work in (because it's impossible to train someone on the job while helping guests every 20 seconds) are very high. So you are faced with a stressful shift, trying to deal with the huge number of guests, praying and hoping the night team doesn't call in sick and you get stuck doing 2 shifts in a row.
Seeing how the few managers that do care, (that I encountered for the duration of 7 years of being there) are being treated and disregarded is heartbreaking.
The overall staff turnover last year was around 54-56 % and for a company that has around 200 employers, it's disgusting. If that doesn't make any alarm bells ring, I don't know what does.
