Pros
- High pay. Top of the market. Very few places pay this well. Stock run-up made a lot of folks rich. - Free food and snacks. Food is pretty good. Benefits and perks still really good despite some cuts - Nice fitness centers at larger offices - Core business is still very strong. FB and IG print money - Chance to work on cool tech and/or products used by billions
Cons
- Obsession over performance review (PSC). Pays to focus on what looks good on PSC rather than doing the right thing - 15% or higher below expectations quota + transition away from high headcount growth means people get thrown under the bus even if they fulfilled their level expectations. People are incentivized to compete with each other and claim credit - days of fast growth and promo are done - small layoffs here and there after the big layoffs. - questionable leadership over the last few years, and nepotism runs supreme. Overhire -> big layoffs -> now hiring a lot in areas again. Cut spending by cutting benefits and layoffs, but then throws more money into Reality Labs. The culture that made Facebook a top place to work is gone. Meta is more like Amazon but with better pay and perks
