      Pros

      I worked in IT for 10 years and got promoted twice during that time. Hard work and talent are definitely recognized. Morgan Stanley is fundamentally a meritocracy. The technology infrastructure is great, and the caliber of one's cohorts is generally very high.

      Cons

      Senior management tend to get mired with infighting and turf wars. One highly politicized group I was in had far too many meetings to try and get everyone on board, resulting in a syndrome of all talk and little action.

      Morgan Stanley is a great place to work if only for the name on your resume

      Pros

      The best reasons to work for Morgan Stanley are the prestige and weight that the name carries with it. Even as an Operations Associate, a middle office role, I found that the name, Morgan Stanley, at the top of my resume opened doors for me and gained me respect. This was invaluable when looking to expand my career and take steps towards a more fulfilling career. Morgan Stanley's management is also a plus as they are highly intelligent people who will do whatever it takes to ensure the best interests of the firm.
