Pros

- Opportunistic environment where one can attain and reach for clients and trade ideas beyond a set structure (theoretically). - Sharp traders, industry leading risk taking ability - Entrepreneurial culture: if you have an idea, you get a shot at it - Not particularly bureaucratic environment

Cons

- Passive aggressive culture: management style is suitable for turning over employees, not building them. Average time around 2 years max. - Convoluted management hierarchy with up to 4 people to report to at VP level. Contributes to rampant confusion. - Bad IT systems, overall the banks has an issue with investments in infrastructure. - Little actual team work - not enough trust for that.

Pros

Morgan Stanley has good brand name . It has been doing very good in Wealth management division. None of wall street 's top five are going good in trading. Wealth management is growing very fast and is very profitable.

Cons

Top management has been very stingy with pay and promotion. I have seen lot of talented people leave in last 3 years.

Pros

So initially, working at Morgan Stanley is like a dream. Great resume booster, very corporate job. It's easy to get in the door and WANT to do well to advance your career. They offer a work from home option good for snow days, or if you're sick and approved. Also, you get 4 weeks of vacation time, a week of sick time, as well as holidays. There is a structured advancement ladder, so everyone gets a chance. Compensation is competitive as well.

Cons

You have to pay for parking, no flexibility. Very hard to get a raise, some people going 2-3 years without a pay increase.
