      Mix of old and new technologies getting better all of the time

      Pros

      Many/most groups are using modern technology Agile is taking over from older heavy processes Lots of smart people

      Cons

      Some groups are stuck in the past with old technologies and ways of thinking Many managers are not ver technically capable which limits their ability to make informed decisions Too much freedom given to groups on technology choices making it difficult to integrate. Influx of management from Microsoft tends to color the decision making process and respect for current employees

      Pros

      Team members made this the best place to work. Love the work life balance and how easy it was to communicate with direct managers. Buy int from the entire team to get things done correctly.

      Upper management is disconnected and makes decision for short gains not really thinking long term.

      Work Hard Play Hard Environment

      Pros

      Motorola's work culture is very work hard, play hard - Employees are very focused during the week but the Young Professionals Group hosts monthly in office happy hours and annual boat cruises, company pays for a beer cart to come around on Fridays Generous salary and benefits - Salary was much higher than expected for a recent graduate. Their offer was actually $10,000 higher than the minimum expected salary I listed on my application. Meaningful company mission, interesting work and products - actually feel like end products make a difference Flexible work hours and work from home. Great HQ location in West Loop - in between Ogilvy and Union Station which is perfect for city dwellers and commuters. Last, but not least: the free snacks and latte machines

      Cons

      Need to be autonomous. You won't be micromanagement but new hires can feel like they are lacking guidance. Takes a lot of time to understand the products if you are not from the public safety/ telecom industry. Big company means lots of division between departments and teams.
