Pros
World renowned products. In the early years innovation and experimentation was actually supported and encouraged. Real university relations, the company worked with top universities that sourced quality fresh outs.
Cons
The innovators of the company report to marketing, meaning if they don't understand a new idea they wont pursue it. New initiative to have the engineering layers come up with ideas and then pitch them to the heads of marketing, including market analysis with estimated sales numbers for the idea, why do we pay for marketing experts now that engineering is doing their job too? Head of company consistently says one thing while actively working on a contrary action, if your product or group is mentioned in a town hall you can bank on your group being up for sale, or next to be downsized, but only right after you finish the current customer deliverable. Head of company says they want software solutions, when we developed software add ons for a release and when we get to the end of the development we are told, 'oh that feature has been removed because we can't get it done in time,' we see that the priority is not what we were told. Bad Politics: Work colleagues see that the only way to keep themselves safe is to make a name for themselves. This was done by bullying their fellow engineers into doing things their way, even when it is clear both ideas were of equal value. Lost at least 3 great people from that work environment (as in left the company).
