Pros

Training, making a positive contribution to other peoples lives, forming some good long lasting relationship and working in an organisation which has to comply with National policies that protect the individual care giver and the patients. The Pension and of course you can use that leaning and skill set in other parts of the world.

Cons

The Pay could be better especially when you are trained and utilise skills in your day to day job which have no financial value attached to it. Being falsely accused of wrong doing may have detrimental effect o ones life. Be prepared to work and study hard initially and realise that as a trained professional you are expected to behave in a certain way befitting of your profession

Pros

There is satisfaction in helping those who cannot help themselves.

Cons

If you go on a course you have to pay for your own accomdation even if the course is mandatory. They look for every opportunity to pay you less than you are owed, For example the petrol allowance for using your own car to work is set up in such a that you do not get back the miles you have travelled. You are not appreciated by your employer ie the Government. You will be expeced to do more and more with no appropraite re-numeration. You pension will be hacked down to a fraction of what it was. You will be doing a job that a few years back was a higher pay band. You will often be doing the job of 2 people as retention and recruitement is a joke. You will be working with outdated and often broken equipment. You will have to fight tooth and nail to get the equipment that your patients needs. You will be complained to constantly about the state of the NHS when you are doing your hardest.

Pros

Strong team support and peer learning from other physios. I feel well supported through supervision from other seniors. clear hierarchy so I am aware of how to escalate concerns and issues.

Cons

poor pay especially oncall pay. frustrating as there are not enough community services to discharge patients to meaning delays in discharges and unnecessary long length of stays for patients, especially elderly which put them at risk of chest infections etc. Standard career progression for all. No recognition of individual achievement.
