Pros

Work/Life Balance... you can pretty much name your own hours and people come and go as they please much of the time. Benefit are good versus the competition, at least they were back when I joined.

Cons

The Irving campus is so far from Finland sometimes it seems we might as well be a 3rd party. There's very little training made available to employees. You can never travel anymore, even if it would really help the project. No one wants to spend the money. There's pretty much no leadership in Irving... just a bunch of small groups banded together in the same office building. The working environment is "open"... a bunch of short-walled cubes that makes it easy to sit around and chat, hard to get work done.

Pros

Fair employer, plenty of possibilities in different areas. Competitive company in the market allows more possibilities. Plenty of traveling for those who like it. Global company with fair treatment of employees. Decent salary level if working outside of Finland atleast.

Cons

Merge with S and N is still ongoing, plenty of politics come to place as companies work very differently in past as separate entities. Company selected Nokia model in most processes leading some unhappiness from ex-S side. Costs are kept low and training possibilities are lacking. As company is only 2 years old there is lot of movement in different positions.

Pros

Working globally. Learning new cultures. The people that work at Nokia are amazing people. Friendly, and many have experience that can help a person grow and expand their knowledge in the telecommunications industry.

Cons

Constant downsizing and restructuring of organizations. Too many layoffs, creating over-worked employees. Nokia is slow to market with their products. They wait for the competition to launch a product, then copy that technology. Nokia is focused on the Finnish way of doing business. They seem uninterested in North America and the US based customers. They are more focused on European, Latin America and India. Where they make the most money on cheap phones.
