Company on a brink of collapse
Pros
Exceptional people (mostly gone now though). Recruitment team have done an incredible job in putting together such wealth of talent and energy in one company. Nice offices. Good base salaries. Until the end of last year, it was a magnificent place to work.
Cons
Oh where do I begin. There's no such thing as work/life balance. Be aware that if you join, there will be nights / evenings / weekends full of work. Holidays too. You will be glued to your work phone. You may end up working and additional 20h per week over your typical full time employment. Obviously unpaid. Leadership - a bad joke, The company managed to let go of few key people and swiftly replaced them with workforce sent from India with no experience in the industry. What followed is an utter chaos, lack of direction and series of bad decisions. Expect to find yourself seated in front of a clueless (yet highly confident) person, arguing about matters they don't even know how to name as per industry standards. Needless to say, you will likely not convince the named characters to adapt to your point of view, backed by years of experience and expertise. You will witness staggering incompetence and lack of accountability and you will see people shrug it off as if this was all normal. I expect OYO UK to collapse by end of this year or shrink down to 1 city and write off (relatively) minor losses to maintain their presence in the UK. Technology - simply put, years behind pretty much everybody else in the industry, Horrifying mess of patched up systems and terrible development work. The one most incompetent department I've witnessed anywhere in the world. I'm simply unable to name one single tool or system that is anywhere near decent. How this company grew to its size with this sort of 'tech' is beyond me. Redundancies - OYO made thousands of positions redundant recently, hundreds in the UK. Exceptional people who have made it so successful with hard work and sweat. Department / business leaders who had dignity have resigned as a result of this move. You will be just a number in this company and you will be axed the moment the company thinks that you can be replaced with tech or 'let's see what happens' mentality.
