Pros

Acquisitions mean that staff are geographically spread: Oracle has not insisted that staff move to HQ, so working hours and attendance are extremely flexible.

Cons

The company has become increasingly penny-pinchingly cost conscious, keeping a tight reign on salary, eroding health benefits, travel and entertainment - and not providing hardware for engineers - we salivate at some of the Google stories. Some of us even have CRT monitors!

Pros

Everyone knows the name and it looks good on a resume. While they underpay you at oracle, you can parlay the job into a much higher paying job elsewhere.

Cons

Oracle is not the worst place to work in the world, but the company clearly doesn't care about its employees.
