Pros

With all the companies that Oracle has brought over the last 4 years you have access to new technology. Training in these newer technologies is hit or miss as the ability to attend training is predicated as anywhere on your work load and the ability to travel to obtain the training. Oracle does have an extensive online library of training options that are available to all. The benefits are probably the best I have ever had. Standard - 401K and other Benefits. Heath care benefits are very impressive and is one of the major reason some people say they stay with Oracle.

Cons

Management is too worried about their job and their buddy’s jobs to provide the type of management to make this company what it should be. Big slow lumbering giant with to many programs to provide the allusion that things are progressing. With all big corporations a look back at these programs eventual leave a trail similar to discarded chicken bones as you drive out of the drive in at the end of the night. It filled you up but was it good for you? They need to spend less time and money on worthless programs and more on the take home pay of performers. The review and subsequent pay increases are a joke and no one takes them seriously. Get what you can when you get in because odds are that is all that you will see.

Pros

Oracle has an excellent software development team in the server division. The average quality of the developers is surprisingly high for a mature company of this size. There are a substantial number of world-class people there, although perhaps not in as large a concentration as 10 years ago, due to long-timers retiring and losing a lot of the best young talent to places like Google, but it's still a lot better than Sun was at its peak. The scale of software development at Oracle dwarfs almost anyplace other than Microsoft, and the engineering culture is, to my mind, far superior.

Cons

It's a huge company, so it's hard to stand out sometimes. There are politics, but they aren't crippling. I worked at a number of smaller companies, and any of the other places with more than 100 people had worse politics and worse outcomes. While I worked at Oracle, they would have "bake-offs" when there were conflicts about how things should be done, and the best code would win. Being involved in one of these is a lot of pressure, but you can actually win just by doing a good job. You also have to learn to think a little outside the box - but not too far - to make useful contributions, and your boss needs to toot your horn in order for you to be adequately compensated.

Pros

It produces a very good products in different areas. I am working in Apps division and this division use many of Oracle's best technologies.

Cons

rules and requirements are not transparent and they are different for different people. Management is kind of random - they forget about people for a while and then produce some decisions.
