Pros

Great brand, financial resources to fund its thoughtful product and acquisition strategy, fluid work structures allow for excellence, broad portfolio of products and services, greatly improving SaaS options and hosting services. Rough and tumble culture in US Sales and Consulting that traditionally has rewarded excellence. World class visionary CEO.

Cons

New President of Sales, Consulting, Hosting that is detached from reality and with a muddled vision and poor communication skills, reorganization that feels like the org chart went in a Waring blender, will likely be a year of disruption and decline in US sales, exodus of top talent from US Sales and Consulting with the departure of the long-stranding EVP for North America Sales and Consulting. Sales force for license is confused by the new sales model with all its overlapping market segments. Consulting in US likely to be down due to self-induced disruptions in the sales force and loss of key leadership positions.

Pros

Oracle is a successful company with a great legacy as well as a bright future. It is a dynamic organization that manages to continue to grow and maintain profitability and a very strong balance sheet. Oracle is a market leader and joining this company ensures one exposure to exciting new technologies. There are many career opportunities within the various divisions of the Oracle organization. The Oracle brand is highly recognized and respected worldwide. Oracle pays well for performance. While it is by now a very large organization it has been able to retain its entrepreneurial spirit and driven sales culture. Oracle has embraced a virtual work environment and working remote (from home) is leveraged by many. This is not a place for the faint of heart, however, a great place to work for the ambitious and energetic go-getters !

Cons

Oracle is very sales oriented and sales driven and sometimes this “street fighters mentality” gets in the way of sounds corporate judgment. Survival of the fittest is part of Oracle’s fabric. Oracle is not for the faint of heart and one must be a self-starter and quick on their feet. Training and support for new hires is often not very well organized. The organization has embraced a virtual working environment (which could also be considered a positive) so the traditional office atmosphere where co-workers meet at the water cooler is not completely gone but no longer normal. While Oracle pays well for performance (and starting salary is competitive) once hired one should not expect frequent salary increases.
