Pros

Work is very technical and diverse giving plenty of opportunities to learn new technologies and keep your skills up to date with the market requirements. The learning curve keeps going higher and never flattens. Being large corporation, job stability is very good even in times of economic turmoils in the IT industry. Team members spanning from different parts of the globe make it easy to have flexible work hours and work from home a few days a week. Other employee benefits, such as cafeterias, huge gym including sports facility like basketball, cricket, badminton, swimming, plus regular health and other information sessions help the employees with their day to day life. Management and other senior employees are very technically sound and great educators for less experienced people. Job at Oracle is great for your first job as well as for experienced people. Overall, it is a very strong and stable company. Moreover, internal transfer within the company to different groups is very common. So, it is easy to move around as per your liking and comfort. Another positiveis the diverse culture. At the HQ the employees celebrate all important festivals around the world like from China and India.

Cons

Downsides depends and varies by group. Some managers are very demanding and it is difficult to satisfy them no matter how hard you work. But, that would be the case in any company where such managers are. While team spread globally does provide flexibility and work from home opportunities, but some phone conference times could be odd to accomodate people in different time zones. With flexible work hours, comes the disadvantage of having to work over the weekends sometimes. If you are given a short task on a Friday and you are expected to finish by early next week, what other choice would you have? But, this greatly varies across groups. Being a large corporation, the management hierarchy is quite deep, making it harder to get paid what you really deserve. Overall, the compensation is about the average market rate. However, the upsides clearly outweigh the downsides.

Pros

Flexibility. If you are developers then you can pretty much work from home since we could connect to office machine via VPN. Meetings also can be attended via conference call. The benefits such as medical and 401K are pretty good comparing to other big companies. There are so many options for medical benefits so you could choose one that fits you. The vacation also pretty good since you do not have to report sick days =) Working experience differ from groups. If you are in ST group then consider yourself lucky since you pretty much got all the perks.

Cons

The downside is probably lack of promotions and raise. Promotions are very hard to get since there are so many to do list that need to be checked off, especially in ST. Since the company is big, you may feel your contributions are not significant since you mostly work only in small part of the product. But thats to be expected from big company like Oracle.
