Pros

Enjoyable place to work. Mission is very motivating. Co-wrokers are friendly and senior management care about teams, inter communication and organizational decision processes.

Cons

Lots of meetings and many decisions are made by consensus which can take a long time and water down effectiveness of end product.

Pros

Opportunity to do progressive social change work, the people in the organization are smart and collegial. Yet .....

Cons

Despite the great work that the organisation does, and the smart, passionate people it has ....the organization itself is a beast. Overly bureaucratic to the point of being dysfunctional. The culture is quite autocratic (despite appearance to the contrary), and frontline staff aren't really empowered to take decisions, things move at a glacial pace .. Also, at Oxfam expect to be overworked and underpaid.
