Pros

Employer ownership. That's it! There are still a few old school employees that value the PCL culture, but they are becoming hard to find.

Cons

CIO is failing in a bad way. Multiple organizational restructuring, demotions, firings, and promoting unqualified people who are yes men to the CIO. was once a great company, now is a horrible environment and it is directly related to Mark Bryant coming in as CIO. PCL Executives are very smart so it is strange they can't see the mistake they made hiring this Toronto Native. He doesn't embrace or even value PCL's culture.

It is disappointing to see that this is your perception of PCL’s business technology team. I would appreciate it if you contacted me directly or through glassdoor@pcl.com to give us an opportunity to directly address your concerns.

Good Solid Company

Pros

I've had my share of working with different companies, both large and small, and PCL is one of the best ones I've worked for. The learning opportunities are fantastic. There are so many people within the company that there is always someone new to meet and something new to learn. Benefits are excellent and there is a unified team-orientated attitude amongst the majority of PCLers.

Cons

As with all companies there are always office politics and those who don't play well together in the sandbox. You're expected to work until the job is done, which is no surprise, but it can make for long work weeks.

Pros

Tight knit team environment. Strong focus on employee development. Exciting projects. Lots of responsibility given at a young age. Employee ownership gives everyone skin in the game.

Cons

Due to the size of the company, the amount of processes and procedures can feel like a burden a times.
