Pros

- Decent earning potential - No layoffs in the company history - Nice sales conference destinations - Get to meet a good deal of business owners

Cons

- Very unethical sales culture - Operations personnel are overworked and completely underpaid. Most specialists have WAY too many clients and are too busy to help on the customer service end. Unfortunately Paychex has lost too many good specialists because their operations management is just as pathetic as the sales management. - As a Core sales rep you find/source 90% of the sales leads for the company, and then have to track everyone of them if you want to get paid for them. Your "partners" essentially scavenge all your sales/appointments for their own sales and will only include you in on the commission if you catch them. - Feels great to be reviewing first run payroll reports with a customer when in the course of 20 minutes three different Paychex sales reps, or your "partners", would cold call trying to up-sell them on products that they already told you they had ZERO interest in. - You are flat out encouraged and/or at times instructed to mislead customers to make sales, will observe coworkers literally scam customers, or are directed to steal deals from your co-workers in the name of your manager making quota. - Completely worthless sales activity reports your "managers" use in their imaginary management world - Continual new sales "flavor of the month" programs which are knee-jerk reactions from your senior management who are either fired, forced to resign, or demoted every other week. - Paychex management spent at least $75 million defending and settling case after case related to the Rapid Pay software lawsuit at the same time they stopped Paychex employee pay raises and 401k matches.

Pros

Their training when you first come into the company is amazing..... and then.... you are on your own, no ongoing training program given to all employees. Specifically sales. The trainers in Rochester are amaaaaazing traines, they are just fantastic.

Cons

I can not begin to tell you how dissapointed I am in Paychex as a whole, from Sales Management, to operations management, all the way up the chain to almost as high as you can go... I can say that I miss the old senior management team. But they are long gone.
