I've been very fortunate where I'm at, but I've heard horror stories from other people who are just putting in ridiculous hours to get the job done. Be prepared to give feedback to your employees and take a hands on approach. This position is not for people who are expecting to just look at a computer monitor and create reports all day. Your primary job function is to ensure the sales team is supported by managing your employees. Once you've got that down, you'll have the opportunity to devote more of your time towards your career goals.
