Pros

- Huge organization that provides plenty of networking opportunities

Cons

- They promise the world during the interviewing/recruitment process and deliver nothing once you join the firm - There is no focus on professional development at the junior level; body shop in the truest sense - No one cares for your work-life balance; senior level people have no qualms in holding you back till 9 pm without asking for your plans/ prior commitments - Extremely political; you cannot work your way up unless you learn to deal with politics; there is no transparency even when it comes to sharing information on opportunities within the practice or seeking counsel on career development from senior folks - The place has no culture of its own. The firm has been on a slew of acquisitions bringing in people from very disparate work cultures, making it hard to identify with any of them - Policies on time-entry and programs on professional development are a joke! Senior staff manipulate and use them to their own advantage.

Pros

Highly ethical, great exposure and training opportunities. Compensation is a plus and highly competitive. Co-workers tend to be great, for the most part.

Cons

The higher you get up the ladder, the less collaboration you experience from partners and other peers. Internal competition is high between practices serving the same industry, as well as between partners. Horizontal practices (e.g., service lines like procurement, supply chain, etc.) compete for business with industry verticals, who develop their own capabilities in these areas, since there is no incentive to use individuals from other practices on projects. As you rise in the ranks, it is sell, sell, sell, and partners are pitted against partner in this regard, and very few help the more junior directors develop business. Best quote: "If you want a partner involved on an opportunity, get a qualified meeting with a potential client and invite us to the meeting". Not a place to learn or partner once you get above manager. It's sink or swim.
