1 and 1/2 years of pure hell operating from PwC Kolkata offices!!!
Pros
I think the only thing going for PwC India is its brand name. PwC evokes strong industry confidence (though I am not sure why since most of the audits which turn sour are performed by PwC!) and the consulting arm, though much smaller than Deloitte allows people to quickly understand how the industry works and also allows them to work in a variety of industries to gain more experience.
Cons
1) In the Calcutta offices for some reason people have a serious attitude problem and a complete lack of professionalism. Sons and daughters of politicians work here and behave as if they own the company bad-mouthing partners and treating subordinates as crap. After working in Bangalore and Delhi, PwC Calcutta was so much of a shock to me that I almost went into depression!!! 2) Partners are God attitude is extremely annoying and highly inefficient. 3) For the same position there is sometimes a huge difference in pay scale depending on how you negotiate and how badly they want you in. 4) PwC Calcutta offices ofcoure are glorified BPOs and KPOs. The infrastructure and the kind of work mirrors the state of affairs in West Bengal - horrible. For days we had to sit in the sweltering heat of Calcutta when the AC of the building went kaput, the repairing of which took over a months time. This in a company which earned 30 bn in 2013
