Pros

A lot of international people in Marketing (if you are a MBA graduate from a top school, this would tick you off since these guys probably just did a 3 year degree in Arts or Science and started working for RB in Europe in sales and then in a few years got sent to the US as Senior Brand Managers or Marketing Directors) Fast Paced (lots of chaos for those who can thrive on it) Good Training Ground (if you want to be great in Trade Marketing, not good for brand management training because everything is very short term and sales focused, no concept of investing in brands and building equity like J&J, Unilever or P&G)

Cons

Work Life balance would need to be compromised Unclear management requires multiple rounds of rework Mid to low tier schools also being hired for MBA entry level positions so dont spend the extra $$$ on a top tier MBA. If you want to work here, a second tier MBA would also do. Overall salary is made to look competitive on paper because of large bonus component, but we all know, you cannot always meet all KPIs for getting a max on bonus.

Pros

If you do well on a project you will be given a lot of opportunity.

Cons

People that do well on projects are rewarded with management roles. This is fine if they are inherently a great leader. However, that is seldom the case. This results in a very 1980's management style (a la the previous CEO) that rewards forcing square pegs into round holes without concern for collateral damage.

Pros

Reckitt is a great place to build some experience in the consumer goods industry.

Cons

Speak to any recruiter and they will tell you that Reckitt has the most cut throat culture in the CPG space. Having worked at multiple firms, I think this is true. I think this goes hand in hand with the colleagues that you’ll work with: most are good at their jobs, but nearly all are not top talent. Given that the NA HQ is 1.5 hours from NYC, other more qualified candidates stay away from working here, resulting in a workforce that is second rate in quantitative ability, strategic decision making, and emotional intelligence. This feeds into the culture, which then leads to incompetent management and poor business sections. It was said that “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” This, in tandem with its workforce, makes Reckitt a decent company instead of a great company.
