Pros

You will build SOME trusted work relationships* You get to have SOME recognition for your work*

Cons

-*Recognition comes if you know how to play the game correctly - *If you're on the People Team, do not say anything bad about anyone on the People Team. Aka, don't bad mouth to your "friend" on the People Team. I guarantee you, those conversations will come back to hurt you. Don't trust your HR colleagues to be your venting buddy, they'll throw you under the bus at the first chance they get. - Beware of drinking the cool aid, especially on the People Team. The People Team especially does not like to be called out. I have seen them twist people's words, especially if they have Helen's ear. - Speaking of Helen, she's not all she's cracked up to be. Beware. - The only reason I'm still here is because my equity isn't fully vested but as you can see, even on the People side of the business, I am carefully waiting until I can leave on my own timeline. - If you're a hard worker, do not count on your direct manager to advocate for you. Make sure you have visibility from leadership over your work and document everything. Your direct manager, especially if he/she is mid-level, is always looking for ways to take credit for your work or ideas. - And saving the best for last - Recharge Feedback is NOT anonymous. Trust me, I'm on the People Team :) Make sure you praise your manager and leaders, they can't tolerate negative feedback from the bottom up!

Pros

The cool aid is great, the language used to feed you the cool aid is exceptional. But if you don’t fall in line or actually start utilizing the experience you were hired for things change quickly for the worse. If you challenge the status quo you are sidelined. If you have tolerance for sub par leadership come work here.

Cons

- The politics is like watching a mafia story. - The forward planning is limited to non, understanding of KPIs is negligible. - The use of data for decision making doesn’t exist. - No idea what the company goals are and roadmaps to achieve them are non existent. - Leadership is group of rejects from other high profile companies where they had limited scope/ responsibilities. Manager or Program manager with 1- years of experience jumps to Director /St Director at Rivian as long as they know the right people. - Sustainability is just a buzz word and the amount of waste generated is the same as anywhere else. - Basic principles and processes are non existent and the need to establish them not a priority. For the most part leaders don’t understand basic job function other than go hire like there is a unlimited need for redundancies. Rivian is portrayed as the company with environment in mind, the love for family and the goal of positive cultural change. Surprise surprise this place is like the rest of corporate America with politics, clicks and wolf packs. Undying loyalty to subpar leadership is more important than experience and ideas.

Pros

Unlimited PTO and Employee stock purchase program.

Cons

Rivian is a very toxic work environment. The culture they tell you the company represents during your interview and onboarding is a lie.
