Pros

Very laid back, come and go as you please, travel if you want, free canteen. Good starting point in your career, you will learn the soft skills needed for other positions within the tech industry.

Cons

Terrible terrible management. People with no technical skills running technical teams and people with zero people management skills as "HR Leads" Shockingly low salary (Consultant's work with desktop support salary). You will be told you have been given a raise but not see it in your bank balance due to bell curves and percentages on your "total target cash" being manipulated. This is made harder to swallow when you are sent to the US to do an onsite service and work with people doing the same job for triple your salary. As mentioned here before the CoE in Dublin is a cheap labour outpost for SAP America. Consultants are sent over "on rotation" to save on the money needed to hire similar people on the US. The CoE in Dublin could literally sack half of the employees and still run as it does now. In the process they could pay the people that have ability and are willing to work a decent salary. Your training in SAP will not give you a lot of transferable skills when you do eventually get tired of working for peanuts.

Pros

Flexi-time (this is only applicable when you're not onsite or on rotation) Benefits are good (health care, 22+days holiday, fuel card) Bonus might be lucrative (depending on how the company performed that year) Free lunches (This perk is only available when you're in the Dublin Office)

Cons

The base salary rate is not competitive with other similar companies Yearly salary increases are suspiciously low A long term career is not feasible as there are no career opportunities within CoE Ireland Middle management treat you like a pretty little number that looks good in an Excel spreadsheet The high volume of never-ending travelling is soul destroying (You are expected to be out of the country for 6+ months of the year and a lot of this is last minute travelling requests) Onsite bonus and per-diems for travelling is low and as a result all the travelling that you do is not lucrative There is a high demand for working unsociable hours (3pm-11pm) to assist with our US customers (this happens consistently and the extra money for working a week of Late Shift is low) The Irish CoE team does not get treated with respect by our counterparts in Germany and America which is extremely frustrating and demotivating. Middle Management in CoE Ireland are too scared to speak up to try and solve this issue. Training offered is minimal and majority of time is not applicable to the actual job or your individual product area. This can result in unskilled employees being extremely out of their depths on customer engagements The work life balance is borderline criminal. If you like meeting up with your friends, family etc. and having a structure to your life then SAP CoE is not for you.
