Pros

Day ends at 4:30 Great people Nice facility Management treats employees well Necessary tools and technology made available Training opportunities

Cons

Need to offer more work/life balance. Many jobs can be done remotely, but it is only minimally offered to those who really, really push for it. Then the employees who come into the office every day have resentment toward the very few people who are able to work at home occasionally.

Pros

good benefits for retirement planning, decent insurance. My direct report was a good manager and mentor.

Cons

low salaries. Bonuses are considered part of overall comp, but are discretionary. You can meet all of your performance metrics and not get your bonus. No raises over 5 years, and "discretionary" bonuses made me feel like I was getting paid and valued less every year. Every year the company would roll out a new plan for management, which made me wonder, do these guys even know what they are doing? Yeah, our plan last year didn't work out, so this year we are going to try this! Embrace Change, continuous improvement, etc. Or....just taking guesses and hoping something will work?

Pros

As a Senior Project Manager working with a variety of food manufacturing clients, you were always learning how to execute projects per the different clients' requirements. Not only were you responsible for executing the role of an SPM overlooking SSOE's design group, you were many times fully responsible to take on the role of being the clients' project manager, having to fully plan, budget, request appropriations, lead their plant teams discovery and fully execute projects through the start-up and commissioning phases, with complete ownership and responsibility.

Cons

Extensive travel, needing to learn numerous clients means and methods with sometimes little to no preparation prior to being put in front of the client.
