Pros

Opportunity to learn different technologies, experience with more formal process used in larger companies. The company invests in technology.

Cons

A lot of pressure from management on every task. Uncertainty about your job due to frequent layoffs.

Pros

Sage is a decent place to work. They are a large company going through a reshuffling of priorities which makes it stressful at times. However, individual business units do operate somewhat independently and until recently felt somewhat autonomous. They are striving to centralize as many processes and technologies as possible though, and that has made it feel a little more "corporate". Co-workers are smart, and friendly. They also support tele-work/remote work and are very supportive of a good work/life balance.

Cons

As mentioned, it's a large company trying to centralize as much as possible. As a result, some software product lines have been sold off, or identified as potential sell-off candidates which has resulted in lay-offs and lowering morale. Increasing pressure to be one brand makes it feel as if some of the autonomy enjoyed by business units/product lines is going to be a thing of the past. Salaries are slightly lower than average, and there haven't been wage increases for about 3 years now.

Not bad for a large company and they're continuously improving

Pros

While it's easy to become a number at large organizations, Sage seems dedicated to minimizing that feel. Decent benefits, policies, and well documented roles made it easy to know what you needed to do day-to-day to succeed in getting your job done. Sage has clear and concise core principles and the company and employees, generally, do a great job embracing them. Compensation was competitive.

Cons

Sage, as may be expected from a large public company, has traditionally been driven by short term focused, low risk decisions. For a software company, this has stifled the pace of change and innovation to a point where employee and company growth has been lacking. While this seems to be changing, investment in new product development, IT support, and organizational improvement is still lacking relative to other software companies.
