Failing leadership

Pros

Some of my colleagues & health cover.

Cons

Company direction is taking a nose-dive & dragging culture to an all time low as all executives care about is profit nowadays. The good people are leaving & now the best exec we had has left the business - the last person we had to look up to. Enter mediocrity & a senior leadership team that cares nothing for the people or the culture. The HR team don’t care & help sweep reports of misconduct by SLT under the carpet & engrain the failing culture. Product don’t listen to customers or sales & they churn out features that don’t work or lacks innovation. I’ve done OK at Sage, so I hold no grudges, but know I need to leave as the company & the product are running towards a hard fail & zero faith left in current exec team to turn this around. Very disappointing.

Pros

* Company has modern progressive policies * On-call is not that stressful, more routine

Cons

Where to start at Intacct, it depends on what team you are on and manager, overall the company uses a fairly ancient legacy system and has been attempting to modernize it to follow a microservice model. The Devops culture present is not "great", employees get blamed for minor mishaps and there aren't enough processes for post-mortems and misalignment between operations and development teams. Communication is very limited -- colleagues share little information when it impacts your work and this makes teamwork challenging. Condescending, micromanagement style is outdated from the 90s like a copy-cat of Oracle bureaucratic systems. Colleagues I knew had low morale or quit from incompetent leadership and lack of trust between ICs and mgmt. . Even different teams would fight and the one with the loudest voice would win -- toxicity would spread like wildfire from contagious interactions.

Pros

Depending on which manager you work for, you may be appreciated and they may insulate you from the toxic culture. I generally like my coworkers and the work I do is meaningful. PTO is generous.

Cons

Wow, where to start. Comp and benefits (other than PTO) used to be competitive, but are now terrible. They canceled the RSU award program for individual contributors without notifying anyone, they waited for us to ask. Still can't get a clear answer from anyone. That is 20% pay cut for me, making this job no longer worth the effort. That's after my health benefits costing more 10% more per year. So significant pay cut in the past 12 months. Top talent is all leaving/have left due to the comp issues. The software is not doing as well as it once was, and we're seeing more and more bugs due to tight timelines pushed by management (timelines with no basis in reality and no accounting for the new staff that's had to be quickly onboarded). There's no clear direction other than "make more money". Constant changes in goals and processes. In general, the UK management does not understand US business, and especially in the tech space.
