Unfulfilling

Pros

Probably better pay than other local companies

Cons

A lot of politics and senior stakeholders you have to dance with. Redundancies every quarter. Promotions don’t make sense nor does pay between peers

Pros

Great benefits and bonus scheme, WHEN it’s done properly. I also enjoy the office although it can feel lonely at times when you don’t have a big team in Newcastle and people outside of your team aren’t really including you. Another pro is that the culture in terms of inclusivity is good, Sage tries to show a genuine want in terms of doing the right thing for people of any and all backgrounds which I appreciate.

Cons

No point going above and beyond when you’ll only end up with a Working Well anyway. Me and many, many others will not be trying as hard next year and will focus on our role and the core responsibilities only. Additionally and to reiterate what another reviewer said, there is also a lot of favouritism and never enough growth opportunities. It’s a hard place to get new experience that you’re actually interested in, despite promises made by managers. Unfortunately a lot of it is all talk…

We are glad to know that you enjoy coming into the office and we encourage you to keep networking outside of your immediate team so that you can build a bigger community around yourself at work. A good way to do this would be through joining a Colleague Success Network. We’re also pleased that you feel included here, as we value you as you are! We’re sorry that you’re feeling demotivated to go above and beyond again this year. We’d like to assure you that the hard work of our colleagues never goes unnoticed and that ‘Working Well’ means you’re doing a great job! This year we’re improving and expanding our performance measurement categories to help create more differentiation for our colleagues. So we encourage you to keep stretching yourself to thrive because we remain committed to supporting you and empowering you to achieve great things! Favouritism goes against our values and one of the reasons we have the Sage Talent Marketplace is so that colleagues, regardless of who they are or where they sit in the business, can have access to all the resources they need to help them develop in the direction they want to go. We encourage you to spend some time on the platform exploring all the different opportunities it offers you to grow and scale, such as taking on gigs or finding a mentor. Please continue to share your thoughts with us regularly so that we can continue learning how we can keep evolving our workplace.

Always prepare for backup plan

Pros

Great team and managers. good pay.

Cons

There are four times laid off since joining the company two years ago. Despite having worked there for two years, my severance pay has only been two weeks. It's crucial to have a backup plan in place when joining this company. Upper management appears to undervalue the hard work of lower-level employees and frequently turns to budget cuts and layoffs to boost revenue in the short term. However, this strategy ultimately leads to the company spending a significant amount of money on third-party agencies in the long run. Ever since the UK acquired Intacct six years ago, Sage has continuously cut the Intacct workforce. US employees are working under pressure due to the constant threat of layoffs.
