Pros

Lots of opportunities for growth. That's one of the reasons I have been with Scotia for so long! Great in terms of job stability as well and lots of flexibility to work from home or different locations.

Cons

As with any large organization, certain things take time to complete. Policies are not always clear but they are fair in most cases.

Pros

Stable job. Some jobs have flexible hours. Your immediate team might be good and your regular contacts. Paternity leave. Banks are expected to continue to do great. We survived Nov 2008.

Cons

Benefits have recently been slashed and now costs you. Pay can be quite low compare to other institutions even though the bank has made profits year after year. The manager's bonus is dependent on how low they can keep their budget ex your salary. Staff discounts or benefits at the branch is not that great. Ex. Shop around for your mortgage because you're not going to get the best from BNS. Budgets for social events have been slashed and may now cost you. You still have to go to show your face.
