Pros

Siemens provides high performing employees with opportunities to not only move up in the defined career paths but between them as well. For US employees in Siemens Medical, there is a strong sense that all employees will be heard by Sr. Management and we have the ability to make OUR company stronger internally and in the marketplace. While work-life balance still seems to be lip service in the general manager population, there are many specific managers who take this topic to be important for employee morale and success of the company.

Cons

While questioning and challenging the status quo is acceptable within US groups, this is not the norm for our German counterparts. US employees can easily get a bad reputation for following US social norms when dealing with our German Collegues, For many US employees, it is expected to work more than 10-12 hours a day. Siemens Medical in Malvern is known in the Philadelphia area as a "low payer."

Pros

Reputation: you definately can see, that most people are still "proud" to work with Siemens (especially in the global headquarter), although there is a lot of discussions about "how good the old times were". Professionalism, leading to a very good reference for further jobs. Also interesting work, you felt doing something meaningful, although just working as an intern.

Cons

bureaucracy, politics, salaray for interns rather low. Often there has been a lack of transparency, what other departments are doing, resulting in 2 departments doing almost the same projects tasks. Besides: also quite a lot of restructring, changes and shifting responsibilities from one department to the other.
