Pros

I loved being a store manager. Starbucks is a great company to work for. Many benefits! Customer connections really make the job amazing

Cons

Store manager is the hardest position because you are not only running the business but also have to work as a barista as well. Finding time to do your scheduling and admin is hard while still working on the floor 36 hours.

Pros

Excellent benefits, 401k, weekly mark outs, free food and drink while working, friendly people to work with. There's an answer and resource for everything.

Cons

Upper management doesn't care, find a good manager and be their barista and you will be happy. Don't have any hopes of promotion because that doesn't happen internally. No awards or celebrations of achievement (my store broke and became a two million dollar store for 5 years with no mention). Managers are made to feel less than at every opportunity. It's not a supportive environment it's a "find the fault" environment. As a manager you leave every day feeling like you are bad at your job even while succeeding in every aspect of measurement. Pay is disgusting, and even worse with reviews being taken away. There is zero work life balance, often even for shift supervisors, especially for management. They recently started forcing managers to have an employee appreciation day, which is so pathetic. Also as a customer (employee off duty) you'll find NO ONE can make your drink...something is going very wrong and they need to fix it. Awful names on cups was a cute "idea gone wrong" but it was only the beginning of the downslide I believe. Unfortunate for such an inspiring idea of a company.

Pros

You can take time off when you need to. Most of the people there really care about their fellow employees. Was happy most days working there.

Cons

Decision by committee leads to hesitation. We changed process almost weekly to where people were not sure what their job was anymore. Starting to bring in former Amazon employees to wreck the culture. They will refuse to pay your vacation when you leave the company, not sick time or personal time, but your vacation time. Was told I needed to give them 4 weeks notice when I left the company (this is not Europe). Pay was 15% below market value and was told it was fair. Some serious backlash when I told them I was leaving with verbal abuse.
