Pros

Decent benefits, free coffee while on the clock, a few decent customers. When left to our own devices, partners were able to do exactly what Starbucks wanted: create enthusiastically satisfied customers all the time.

Cons

Incompetent managers, too many terrible customers, deceptive in requirements and opportunities for promotion, sub-standard pay. When management would interfere, partners were often cut off at the knees and unable to provide even marginally satisfactory customer service. This proved true in several stores at which I worked during my six years with the company. When "developing" partners for promotion, partners are commonly given a great deal of extra work to do without additional compensation. Feedback is vague and unhelpful - partners will often be "developing" for years before (or even if) they are ultimately promoted.

Pros

Free drinks and building connections with loyal customers.

Cons

Horrible supervisor named Rose at Starbucks bentalls. She would overload me with work and when I asked for help she would tell me to do my job. For many years she would overload me with work and carry heavy equipment on my own. I eventually then followed up with management, to which things later changed, although since she was close with my manager nothing was changed after I made a complaint for many months. Training was nonexistent. You had to learn on the job. Instead of training me to make the drinks, I was only allowed to take orders until I made a complaint. Very toxic environment to work at and people will take advantage of you if you do not stand up for yourself. There is no standard when it comes to balancing the workload, therefore if a supervisor does not like you they will give you all the heavy workload to complete. I finally found a new job and left but I was diagnosed with depression after working at this company. If you value your mental health it is not worth applying for. Anytime we had an infestation issue it was not taken care of for months. Nothing was solved until things got worse.
