Pros

Great reputation and strong capital

Cons

Its living off a reputation earned 20 years ago. Swiss Re no longer stands for what it used to. It as become a process driven company that does not value knowledge. Swiss Re only takes care of a few employees some good others not so good. Be prepared to go with no raises for years. Little upward mobility. Pay is the same regardless of experience. The are moving all the jobs to low costs countries overseas. Losing talent in local markets. There are few people in SR with any reputation.

Pros

A professional company, top of class. Good benefits, facilities and staff events, supports charity of the year, has a sports and social club. Also promotes personal development and growth and there's many career opportunities within the organisation if you're happy to travel. New office spaces promotes collaboration and flexible working which is nice.

Cons

Global company, has a matrix/model. Often slow to implement and manage change due to complexity. Zurich centralised which can mean longer working hours to fit their hours, no overtime is paid to UK employees which can cause a challenge with work and life balance.

Pros

1. Reinsurance industry offers a lot to learn. 2. Cafeteria food is good.

Cons

1. Fearful environment in teams. Employees feel threatened by managers but are afraid to report it for the fear of their jobs. 2. Unit heads are completely unaware of this as there is no skip-level interaction at all. 3. Feedback is not well received by managers and they threaten people that careers will be ruined if we disagree with what they say. 4. There is no way to communicate our feedback about our managers without the manager knowing about it. We have been told that even the 'anonymous' surveys results can be traced back to the employee. 5. During induction, you are told about great policies such as 'Own The Way You Work', etc. But managers do not let you work from home or be flexible with work timings. 6. Salary is much lower than industry peers. 7. During annual pay hikes, only the fixed component is revised. The variable component (TAPI) remains the same for around 4-5 years irrespective of your performance. It feels like we are trapped with the manager and cannot raise our voice to anyone. The overall work environment is suffocating and demoralising. I would not recommend this firm to anyone.
