Pros

For the most part, there's general goodwill and team work among the rank and file. There are a lot of diverse personalities and experiences at the company and everyone seems to come together to get things done when there's a fire drill (which is very often). The good leaders in the company really do care about their employees and want them to do well in their career - just cross your fingers that you get one of these individuals as your manager - and that there isn't a re-org within your first two months on the job.

Cons

Some of the challenges I have with T-Mobile are probably similar to those I would find working in any large, global company. The specific things that I would caution someone considering T-Mobile as an employer about would include: * Always looking for the quick fix and making knee-jerk reactions to competitive moves * Fire drill mentality 24x7 * Mass confusion amongst the ranks on current strategy, tactics, etc * Constant re-orgs, which increase the perception that the company has no strategy * Similarly titled/compensated employees working vastly different hours 40/wk to 70/wk

Pros

Family friendly. Work life balance is good. Taking care of their employees is a high priority.

Cons

They have some of the least capable people working there, but these people are well cared for and happy (see comment above). As a company they are WEAKER because they are so nice to all employees that less capable people are not pushed to contribute more or leave.

Pros

When I was there, the pay was good (perhaps slightly lower than at competing companies like AT&T or Verizon), the atmosphere was relatively relaxed (I hate high-pressure/high-stress sales), and the company was good to the customers for the most part. I was very happy with the benefits.

Cons

My immediate management (store and regional managers) were frustratingly unhelpful. I wanted to move up in the company, and was met with resistance and negativity. This strikes me as mainly a local problem, though, not company-wide. I was starting to get very frustrated by the frequent changes in the benchmarks they wanted us to hit. Our goals kept shifting and morphing, making it difficult to keep up with what they wanted of us. When I started with T-Mobile, they just wanted us to sell phones. Then they started watching metrics. Then they couldn't decide which metrics were important to them. It was a pain.
