Pros

Experience and opportunities to learn abound if you just keep your head down & avoid politics and drama

Cons

A lot of swelled heads, blaming and inability to work cohesively to find solutions to problems when there is a clash of egos. Plain old high school clique mentality. Really juvenile and pathetic. No respect for your free time or personal life

Pros

Worked with great, supportive people Paid more out of the gate than other stores* Decent schedule flexibility*

Cons

Caveats of the pros, the $15/hr is still not enough to get by alone in this area. The base pay may be higher than other businesses, but understand that your hours will likely be very unstable and your income will not be consistent. Target does offer different benefits, but most of my coworkers and I were never given enough hours to qualify. Yearly raises were non-existent, despite record-breaking profits for Target. They will assess your performance and give you a raise of 1%, 3% or 6%. No one I spoke to ever received 6%, even when they were the hardest working and most highly motivated employees. Not to mention, none of those even keep up with inflation, so you're taking an effective pay cut either way. Throughout the pandemic, Target's response to COVID-19 restrictions has been lax. They never enforced customers masks even when required by state mandate. Cleaning protocols were all but forgotten. Numerous safety concerns/violations. Crowded and blocked passages in the backroom, overhanging and/or unsecured bulk product on the steels. Vehicles in the fire exits. Keys left in the baler. These issues had been brought up, but were often not promptly dealt with, and would continue occurring regularly. Running a company surely requires some unique skills. But the company is nothing without the teams breaking their backs in the stores, generating all of the company's profit. These people should be fairly compensated for their time, not be worried about affording rent, childcare,, food or medical bills.
